Wisner, a small town with a population of 726 was founded by Edward Wisner, who originally came from Switzerland. Located in the southern part of Franklin Parish on Hwy. 425. it is surrounded by rich farmland, and is near Turkey Creek Recreation Park which offers abundant opportunity to both residents and visitors to fish, camp, boat, or just relax in the RV park and enjoy the sunset.
A designated Louisiana Arts and Culture District, Wisner is positioned for success in revitalization and as a hub for cultural activity. This community is host to the annual South Franklin Parish Catfish Festival, which is well attended by visitors from all around North Louisiana. The friendly citizens of Wisner actively support their community, local school, church activities, and each other.
