The Village of Baskin was named in honor of Dr. Adolphus McDuffie Baskin, a pioneer settler. Dr. Baskin is actually buried in Union Cemetery, located in Baskin. Once known of a milling community and timber farms and was heavily populated with thousands of people. Our Village spans 1.33 miles long and has a population of approximately 250 individuals. Baskin is led by Mayor Layton Curtis, the second youngest mayor in the state of Louisiana. Lainey Wilson, Country Music Award and Grammy winner, was born and raised in Baskin on her family’s farm.
